The North Dakota Securities Department regulates the offer and sale of securities and franchises in the State of North Dakota and protects the investing public by enforcing our state's securities laws. The Department promotes public awareness of securities laws to prevent investment fraud and provides investor education programs for all ages to improve the level of financial literacy in our state. |

The Securities Department serves the public in three important ways. The Department provides public information and education about financial planning and investing to help citizens make wise personal financial choices, as well as enforces North Dakota laws that protect citizens from dishonest investment practices and regulating the people and companies offering investment opportunities.
In addition, the Department helps foster the formation of capital for business growth and economic development. Guidance is provided to businesses in the process of raising capital through the offer of legitimate investment opportunities. The Department also provides general information and assistance to potential franchise buyers. The Department helps them understand the obligations of owning a franchise, how to shop for opportunities, and what questions to ask before investing.
