| PURPOSE: |

- To prevent human suffering and reduce the cost of workers compensation coverage by preventing workplace injuries through safety programs in partnership with employers and workers.
- To assist injured workers by providing prompt benefits, including coverage for medical bills and lost wages resulting from work injuries, and to help them quickly and safely return to productive work.
- To promote economic growth and prosperity in North Dakota by operating an efficient workers compensation system that provides needed benefits to injured workers at the lowest possible cost to employers.

- The Office of Independent Review provides assistance to injured workers who have questions or concerns about decisions on their claims. For assistance call 701-328-9900 or 800-701-4932.
- To report suspected fraud by an injured worker, employer, or medical provider, call the Special Investigations Unit at 800-243-3331.

| SCOPE OF SERVICE: |

Generally, all employers operating in North Dakota are required to obtain coverage through WSI, and all North Dakota employees are eligible for benefits. There are exceptions for certain industries, such as agriculture, and there are limitations on out-of-state coverage. For information regarding the need to obtain coverage and the scope of coverage, call 701-328-3800. |

WSI is governed by a Board of Directors representing premium-paying employers, covered workers, and medical providers. It is funded entirely by employer premiums, and does not receive any state or federal general fund tax dollars. |
