The Council promotes the production, development, marketing and advertising of sunflower,safflower, rapeseed or canola, crambe and flax within North Dakota. Two members are appointed by the governor: one safflower representative and one flax representative. One member is appointed by the director of agricultural experiment station. The agriculture commissioner serves as an ex-officio member. The chairman is elected by the Council. There are also 3 elected canola members. Elected members must live in the district they represent and be a sunflower grower.

The mission of the ND Playwrights Cooperative is to create networking, craft-building and production opportunities for ND playwrights. The Cooperative hosts round table readings, discussions, staged readings and play festivals. The Cooperative works by members contributing time and skills to productions. It is intended to reach writers across the state, especially those who may be working in isolation. The ND Playwrights Cooperative is sponsored by the Hatton Community Theater, Hatton, ND.
