USDA - ARS Grand Forks Human Nutrition Research Center Print
PURPOSE:
  To serve the public through research to determine nutrient needs for humans and to provide information concerning healthy food choices and a healthful food supply. Emphasis is on determining nutrient needs to support health and optimal function throughout life.
PROGRAM:
 
  • Cardiovascular Health: Investigates nutritional roles in supporting health and normal function of the heart, circulation and related systems.
  • Bone Health: Investigates the nutritional roles in supporting bone health and preventing osteoporosis.
  • Physiological and Psychological Health: Investigates the roles of diet and nutrition in supporting healthy body weight and brain function.
  • Mineral Availability in Foods: Investigates the mechanisms of absorption, homeostatic regulation of mineral nutrients.
  • Gene Expression and Cancer Risk: Investigates the molecular base of the biological functions of nutrients involved in cancer.

  • Tours of research facility for interested research groups, industry, schools and other educational entities.
  • A Speakers Bureau available to interested groups related to research.
