PURPOSE:
  To provide profitable crop and rangeland management systems that work in harmony with the environment.
PROGRAM:
 
  • Research on biological control of weed and insect pests, with emphasis in Integrated Pest Management Systems.
  • Research on grasshopper management and ecology.
  • Research on improving soil quality.
  • Research on reduction of agrichemical inputs.
  • Research in irrigated and dryland systems and alternative crops.
  • Research on precision agriculture including use of remote sensing.

  • Public field day for demonstrations of research projects and distribution of information.
  • Tours of research facilities.
  • Speakers for meetings, etc., relating to research projects, the lab's mission or goals, or general agricultural topics.
GEOGRAPHICAL AREA SERVED:
  Northern Great Plains, with special emphasis on programs that potentially have region- and nation-wide application.
CLIENTELE SERVED:
  Farmers, ranchers, land managers and other agricultural producers; agricultural-based government entities (NRCS, FSA, soil conservation districts, water resource districts, ag experiment stations, etc.); general public; press/media/agricultural journalists; etc.
