The Entrepreneurship Program at the UND College of Business and Public Administration was recently ranked 8th out of the top 25 undergraduate programs in entrepreneurship education in the U.S. out of 700 programs evaluated by The Princeton Review and Entrepreneur magazine. In 2004, UND was ranked number 14 of 25 as a top entrepreneurial campus by Forbes.com and The Princeton Review. These distinctions recognize the campus and the program for the assistance it provides to budding entrepreneurs.
The program's philosophy is that entrepreneurship is not something you do only at the start of a small business - it's a mindset, a lifelong journey, and a commitment to "do what you dream". Course offerings are available to all UND students, regardless of major. UND offers an Entrepreneurship major, and Entrepreneurship track program for business majors and an Entrepreneurial Studies certificate program for non-business majors.
The major in Entrepreneurship provides students a comprehensive business background with a focus in venture creation and growth. This BBA degree is designed to help students acquire the skills needed to prepare their own ventures, or to work in an existing entrepreneurial business as a corporate entrepreneur. A 9-credit track program is also available to business majors to help build entrepreneurial skills in support of their major field of study.
The Entrepreneurship Program at UND also offers a 16-credit certificate program designed specifically for non-business majors. The sequence of courses in the certificate program provides non-business majors a chance to explore entrepreneurial skills that will help in the development of their own business ideas and innovations or provide career enhancement.
In addition to academic programs, the Center for Innovation offers tech incubator space for student entrepreneurs, free consulting and the Dakota Student Loan Program for student start-ups. The Center also works with entrepreneurs from the community at large on business plans, market plans, financial projections and capital acquisition.
