The Pioneer Trails Regional Museum's purpose is to preserve and research the history within a 100-mile radius of Bowman, ND. They endeavor to tell as complete a story as possible through the use of text and artifacts. They are a research center in the fields of Paleontology, Archaeology, Anthropology, Botany, Geneaology, Local History and Astronomy.
The Paleontology Department conducts public day tours to their active research sites in the field. The day tours are an opportunity to join their paleontology crew that gives one the sense of what it is like to be a paleontologist and how fossils are collected.
In addition, the Paleontology Department also offers a more intense summer field activity through their summer field schools. This program allows the more hearty and serious individuals the opportunity to participate with their research crew and receive instruction in field paleontological techniques.
