MISSION:
  The mission of the RLS Program is to promote enhanced quality of life through recreation, leisure and activity for the people of North Dakota and beyond. The RLS Program works toward this mission through the professional preparation of students for careers in the recreation, parks and leisure services field; developing students' theoretical bases of knowledge and analytical skills; and contributing to society and the profession through the development of a program of research and other scholarly activity, providing leadership and technical assistance to local and regional organizations, and being actively involved in community and professional organizations on the state, regional and national levels.
SERVICES:
  Bachelor's degree with major in Recreation and Leisure Services, which includes courses related to outdoor recreation and tourism development.

Students and faculty are capable of consulting on projects related to nature tourism. This might include market research, customer satisfaction research, program evaluation, survey research, feasibility studies and participation trends analysis. Also have expertise in special event planning, interpretative programs, accessibility and inclusion of persons with disabilities, application of GIS to recreation and tourism planning. They also provide customized training to tourism and recreation organizations.
