Marketplace for Entrepreneurs, in collaboration with the Northern Plains Inventors Congress, is hosting the 5th Annual Invention Contest on January 13-14, 2009 in Bismarck, ND. This Contest is being held in conjunction with Marketplace for Entrepreneurs.

To participate in this Contest, please do the following:

  1. Complete the Entry Kit and submit it to Marketplace for Entrepreneurs. The Entry Kit includes: 2009 Invention Contest Rules/Guidelines; 2009 Invention Contest Entry Form; and 2009 Booth Reservation Agreement. Please enclose a check or money order for $25 per 8'x10' booth requested, made payable to Marketplace for Entrepreneurs (a stipend is available for those 18 and under).
  2. Present your invention to a panel of judges on January 13, 2009. An exact time will be randomly scheduled, and you will be notified in advance of your presentation time.
  3. Showcase (exhibit) your invention at Marketplace for Entrepreneurs on January 14, 2009.
  4. Attend the Marketplace/Northern Plain Invention Contest Awards Ceremony on January 14, 2009 (inventors not in attendance, will be disqualified).

This year, $5,500 will be awarded in prizes as follows:

  • First Place: $2,500
  • Second Place: $1,000
  • Third Place: $500
  • Special Award - Energy Conservation: $500
Special Award - Youth Innovator
  • Age 14-18
    • First Place $250; Second Place $150; Third Place $100
  • Age 13 & Under
    • First Place $250; Second Place $150; Third Place $100

2009 Northern Plains Inventors Congress Conference
The Northern Plains Inventors Congress (NPIC) Conference will be held on January 13, 2009, from 1:00 - 6:00 p.m. All inventors, entrepreneurs, businesses, and service providers are invited to attend this free, annual conference, which attracts individuals from across the United States.

The NPIC provides inventors and entrepreneurs with the information necessary to effectively commercialize new ideas. The NPIC also encourages innovation and economic development in the United States by exchanging ideas between inventors, entrepreneurs, and professionals.
