Deadline Approaches for Marketplace BOSS Competition
Grand Forks, ND ~ November 2, 2007: Senator Kent Conrad and Agriculture Commissioner Roger Johnson today welcomed North Dakota's next generation of entrepreneurs to compete in the 2008 Marketplace for Entrepreneurs BOSS Business Plan Competition.
"The goal of the BOSS competition is to develop a new generation of entrepreneurs. These young people are the business leaders of tomorrow, and we want them to take an active role in growing North Dakota's economy," said Senator Conrad and Commissioner Johnson, the organizers of Marketplace for Entrepreneurs.
The BOSS competition encourages the region's best and brightest, to help "Grow North Dakota from Within," by starting a new business or considering self-employment as a viable career option. The competition will be held January 15, 2007 at the Alerus Center in Grand Forks.
Open to all North Dakotans 25 years of age or younger or students attending a North Dakota college, university, or tribal college who wish to start a business in North Dakota, the BOSS program allows participants to interact with regional employers, businesses and organizations. Finalists will compete for more than $8,000 in cash prizes, including a $3,000 grand prize to the winner.
All interested parties must submit a letter declaring their intention to compete by November 21. All business plans must be submitted by December 5.
"Marketplace for Entrepreneurs is designed to tap into the entrepreneurial spirit that thrives in North Dakota and put it to work. The BOSS competition is fostering that spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship among our young people," said Conrad and Johnson.
For 18 years, Marketplace has served as the place for people to exchange ideas, discuss the latest innovations, and share skills and technology. Often described as "a supermarket of ideas" Marketplace gives participants the tools, encouragement, advice and support they need to boost incomes, strengthen communities, and explore business opportunities in North Dakota.
