PURPOSE:
  The mission of the Tribal Business Information Center (TBIC) is to contribute to a growing reservation economy by assisting in the creation, development and/or expansion of small business.
PROGRAMS/SERVICES AVAILABLE:
 
  • One on one consultation with business people and individuals contemplating starting a business.
  • Assist individuals in preparing business plans including access to business planning software and assistance in using the software.
  • Assist small business enterprises and potential enterprises in finding financing that is appropriate to their needs and financial position.
  • Offer First Step Fast Trac Entrepreneurial training to business people and individuals contemplating starting a business.
  • Develop a business incubator as part of the new campus.  The Business Incubator will be taking business incubator clients who will operate their businesses from the incubator site and be in close proximity to TBIC and its business services.
  • Make available to business clients books, publications, how-to manuals and video tapes dealing with business issues.
  • Conduct workshops on specific business topics.  Topics included on a regular basis include QuickBooks, Personal Money Management, Financial Projections, and Ag Borrower Training.  Other topics presented as needed.
  • Network with other business resource providers, both technical and financial, and utilize these resources to assist business enterprises on the reservation.
  • Develop additional financing sources for small businesses on the reservation.
  • Research specific business related issues.
  • VITA Income Tax Preparation.
  • Conduct outreach to farmers and ranchers in the two-county area and provide business planning services to farmers and ranchers.
  • Make available to business clients all specialized technical assistance resources from NDSBDC and Dakota MEP.
COST OF PROGRAMS/SERVICES:
  TBIC services are provided at no cost.
GEOGRAPHICAL AREA SERVED:
  Sioux County, North Dakota and Corson County, South Dakota (Standing Rock Sioux Reservation)
CLIENTELE SERVED:
  Technical assistance is targeted at residents of Standing Rock Sioux Reservation. This includes both students at Sitting Bull College and people living in reservation communities. TBIC is a community outreach of the college.
