| PURPOSE: |

The Business Equity Loan Fund was established to assist tribal enrolled members in starting, growing or purchasing their own businesses, therby providing productive employment opportunities within the exterior boundaries of the reservation.
The Fund offers two separate programs for the benefit of tribal members. The Micro Equity Loan Fund (MELF) offers incentives to smaller micro enterprises with capital requirements of $25,000 or less. For larger businesses with total capital requirements in excess of $25,000, the Business Equity Fund (BEF) is available. Funding is in the form of a non-reimbursable equity grant.

| ELIGIBILITY: |

Those eligible for the program are:
- Standing Rock tribal members.
- Partnerships or corporations with 65 percent majority interest owned by a tribal member(s).
Types of eligible businesses:
- Ag, service, consumer, or commercial;
- Organized for profit;
- Authorized to do business under tribal, state or federal law;
- Having an acceptable form of organization;
- Reasonable prospect for success;
- A startup business, business expansion or the purchase of an existing business.
